What is Blueprints for Learning?
Goal
Shady Hill is currently engaged in a $16 million capital fundraising effort, Blueprints for Learning. The decision to undertake this campaign is the result of a lengthy Strategic Planning process, one which focused on strengthening the school over the next decade, while emphasizing the needs of the 21st century learner.
Blueprints is the largest philanthropic effort in Shady Hill’s history and will allow the school to maintain its position as a national leader in independent elementary education. While all monies raised under the Blueprints for Learning Campaign are unrestricted, the Campaign focuses on two chief initiatives that support Shady Hill’s program:
1. Program Improvements – $6 Million
Increasing support for programs (math/science/technology, service learning, arts, and physical education) and for faculty compensation and professional development.
2. Campus Improvements – $10 Million
The Board intends to devote the funds raised to the recently completed construction and reconfiguration of arts spaces; construction of a new three-court gymnasium which includes a 50-space underground parking garage; restoration of the wetlands with an increased footprint; and a new pedestrian path and drop-off area, or other projects as determined by the Board.
Shady Hill's approach to fundraising for these goals.
The strategic planning process and organization leading up to the kick-off of Blueprints for Learning took several years of thoughtful planning. The Campaign initiatives presented to the community are the culmination of hundreds of conversations and discussions with faculty, parents and alumni. The school is proud of the process by which it arrived at these initiatives – and as such, Shady Hill plans to give the fundraising process that same level of time and care.
Equivalent to raising the dollars required to fulfill our financial goals as soon as possible, Shady Hill also strives to coordinate a campaign effort that is highly personal in nature. We are currently inviting current and past parents, alumni, TTC graduates and others close to the school to participate in this important effort. We plan to visit as many community members as possible, through teams of parents, alumni, past parents and staff, with the hope that we can illustrate how these new initiatives are imperative for the continuation of innovative teaching and learning – the mission of Shady Hill School.
We hope you will join us in supporting a school that is known and loved by so many. If you would like to have a conversation about the initiatives or if you are interested in making a gift in support of Blueprints, please contact:
